Underwriting
WRFL’s programming is made possible in part by our underwriters, which are a variety of local businesses in Lexington that support the station. WRFL thanks all of our underwriters for supporting us and college radio.
About Underwriting
WRFL underwriting consists of a $1,500 contribution (monetary or in-kind donations of equivalent value) to the station. Underwriters are thanked for their donation with a 30-second non-promotional spot that airs twice daily for a full calendar year. Donations can be paid in total or in scheduled quarterly installments of $375.
What Can Be Included:
- Business name, location, and contact details.
- Basic, value-neutral descriptions of up to four goods/services.
- Non-promotional descriptions of recurring events.
What Cannot Be Included:
- Promotional, comparative, or competitive language.
- Calls to action (e.g., “Go to,” “Visit now”).
- Mentions of cost including the word “free.”
- Pre-made advertisements or custom slogans not widely recognized.
- Rhetorical questions or problem-solving claims.
Not for profit organizations with 501(c)3 status are eligible for a public service announcement (PSA), which does not require a donation. More information on how to obtain an PSA, contact our Promotions Director at promotions@wrfl.fm.
